Bandits attacked the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Kebbi State, killing the Vice-Principal and abducting several students.
According to a report from DAILY TRUST, armed bandits attacked the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) in Maga, Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State on Monday morning. The attack resulted in the death of the school’s Vice-Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and the abduction of an unspecified number of students.
Maga, a community that has experienced repeated attacks in recent times, was thrown into panic as the assailants struck around 5 a.m. “The attack has created panic among residents of Maga. We are now in fear and mourning,” said Aliyu Yakubu, a local resident.
The school principal, Makuku, was reportedly shot while attempting to protect students from the bandits. “He was shot as he tried to protect his students from being taken by the bandits. It’s a great loss for the community and the school,” Yakubu added.
As of the time of filing the report, police authorities had not released an official statement. Attempts to reach the Kebbi State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, were unsuccessful, as calls to his phone went unanswered.
Security officials have yet to provide further details, and residents continue to fear additional attacks in the area. Updates on the number of abducted students and ongoing response efforts are expected.
