The Bauchi State Teachers Service Commission has demoted a principal and a senior master over alleged misconduct involving the sale of school property at Government Day Secondary School, Kirfi.
An internal investigation, conducted by a four‑member committee, found that Malam Musa Ahmed (Principal) and Malam Adamu Shehu (Senior Master) conspired in the sale of 32 scrapped student beds, nine jumbo aluminum pots, and roofing zinc without authorisation from the Ministry of Education .
“The commission has therefore approved the demotion of the two officers by one grade and they will be posted to different schools to teach,” said Malam Dahiru Adamu, the Commission’s Information Officer . They are also mandated to refund ₦597,000, representing the value of the items, and the principal must pay an additional ₦72,000 to settle casual workers’ allowances he allegedly withheld .
The Commission affirmed its commitment to collaborate with security agencies to recover any remaining school property .
