The Benue State Government says the demolition of the Tinubu Support Group 2027 office was part of its road dualisation project, not a political move, after backlash from the group’s leadership.
The demolition of the Ahmed Bola Tinubu Support Group 2027 office in Makurdi has sparked controversy, with the Benue State Government insisting it was part of an ongoing road expansion project.
Dr. Aker Kpev, Director General of the group, said officials of the Benue Urban Development Board carried out the exercise without prior notice. He said the group has reported the matter for investigation.
However, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, said the demolition was linked to the dualisation of the Makurdi–Enugu Road.
Kula said owners of approved properties were compensated, while illegal structures were removed after due notice.
“It is mischievous to politicise a lawful demolition by repainting or mounting billboards to stir sentiment,” Kula said.
He described the project as part of Benue’s infrastructural renewal efforts.
