Despite over 100 deaths in Benue, the state is organising a colourful welcome for President Tinubu.

Despite the recent killing of over 100 people in coordinated attacks across Guma LGA in Benue State, the state government is mobilising support groups to welcome President Bola Tinubu.

A letter dated June 17 from Francis Ngutswen, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Groups Mobilisation, invited registered groups to form a parade from the airport to Government House, Makurdi.

“Accreditation will be done directly by the number and colours,” the letter stated, urging group leaders to liaise with the office for further instructions.

This move has sparked outrage as Amnesty International confirmed over 100 fatalities in Yelwata and Daudu, with local sources claiming numbers may exceed 200, including women and children.

Tinubu only responded after hours of criticism for ignoring the massacre while condoling India over a plane crash. He urged Governor Hyacinth Alia “to reconcile the terrorists responsible for the attacks with victims.”
