Former U.S. President Joe Biden and ex-Secretary of State Antony Blinken have both claimed credit for laying the groundwork that led to Donald Trump’s Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal.

Former U.S. President Joe Biden and ex-Secretary of State Antony Blinken have both taken partial credit for President Donald Trump’s Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement announced on Monday.

Biden, who is currently receiving cancer treatment, wrote on X that he was “deeply grateful and relieved” the Gaza war was nearing an end, adding that his administration had “worked relentlessly to bring hostages home, get relief to Palestinian civilians, and end the war.”

He also acknowledged Trump’s role, saying the former president “got a renewed ceasefire deal over the finish line.”

Blinken, in a separate post, said Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza built upon one developed under the Biden administration after months of talks with Arab partners, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority.

Trump dismissed their claims aboard Air Force One, saying, “Everybody knows it’s a joke… This should have never happened.” He added that Biden’s “bad policy” was to blame for the earlier escalation.
