Former President Joe Biden expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support following his prostate cancer diagnosis, calling the disease “aggressive” but manageable.
Former President Joe Biden has broken his silence after revealing he is battling an aggressive form of prostate cancer, sharing a smiling selfie with First Lady Jill Biden and their cat on Monday.
“Cancer touches us all,” Biden, 82, wrote on social media. “Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”
His comments came a day after his office announced that doctors discovered a “small nodule” on his prostate during a recent exam.
The cancer, which has spread to his bones, was graded a Gleason score of 9, indicating a highly aggressive form.
“The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians,” his spokesman said, adding that the cancer is hormone-sensitive and can be managed.
The diagnosis follows reported urinary symptoms earlier this month. Biden’s office said he remains in good spirits and grateful for the public’s support.
