Facebook cofounder Dustin Moskovitz and his wife Cari Tuna plan to donate most of their $20 billion fortune, focusing on AI safety and global development.

Facebook cofounder Dustin Moskovitz and his wife, Cari Tuna, have revealed plans to give away most of their $20 billion fortune through their foundations and nonprofit ventures.

The couple has already donated over $600 million this fiscal year and $4 billion in total, with more than $10 billion committed to their Good Ventures Foundation. They also operate Open Philanthropy, a nonprofit funding and advisory group supporting causes such as global health, AI safety, and pandemic preparedness.

“With hundreds of billions of dollars going into making AI more capable, there is immense competitive pressure to push the technology forward,” Tuna told Forbes. “But in order to manage the risks, you need coordination across companies and across countries.”

Tuna, a former Wall Street Journal journalist, has been named one of Time’s 100 most influential people in AI. Moskovitz and Tuna continue to emphasize that “progress and safety don’t have to be at odds” as they commit their wealth to global good.
