Body of Hamas leader found as peace talks with Israel resume

Hamas has offered to release nine hostages in exchange for a 60-day military stand down in an effort to slow down the fighting in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.

Israel announced Sunday the discovery of Muhammad Sinwar’s body, Hamas’ de facto leader, in a tunnel in Khan Younis after recent airstrikes. At least 100 people died in the strikes. Hamas has offered to release nine hostages for a 60-day military ceasefire to ease ongoing conflict.

Sinwar was the younger brother of former leader Yahya Sinwar. Meanwhile, Israeli forces seized an Indonesian hospital in northern Gaza, rendering it inoperable. Peace talks in Qatar continue, with officials hinting at a possible larger deal including Hamas withdrawal.
