New Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti said he is “honoured and proud to lead the best team in the world” and is targeting victory at the 2026 World Cup.
The 65-year-old Italian was unveiled at a press conference at the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) headquarters. Ancelotti arrives after four years managing Real Madrid, where he won three Champions League titles and two La Liga crowns. He also won European titles with AC Milan, the Premier League and FA Cup with Chelsea, and domestic titles with Paris St-Germain and Bayern Munich.
“I have a big job ahead of me,” he said. “I’m delighted, the challenge is great. I’ve always had a special connection with this team. We’re going to work to make Brazil champions again.”
Brazil face Ecuador away on 5 June and Paraguay at home five days later in World Cup qualifiers. Neymar is out injured.
