Brazilian Vice President lands in Nigeria for landmark strategic dialogue talks

Brazil’s Vice President Geraldo Alckmin arrived in Abuja on Tuesday for high-level bilateral talks.

Brazil’s Vice President Geraldo Alckmin and his wife, Maria Lúcia Alckmin, arrived Tuesday morning at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport for the second session of the Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism (SDM).

The high-level visit signals deepening diplomatic engagement between Nigeria and Brazil, with major outcomes anticipated across key sectors.

The Brazilian delegation was received by top Nigerian officials, including Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hadejia; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha; and Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari.

Speaking at the reception, Senator Hadejia hailed the visit as “a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s renewed hope agenda.”

“This dialogue mechanism represents our commitment to leveraging South-South partnerships that deliver tangible benefits to our citizens,” he added.

The three-day summit will conclude with the signing of over 30 agreements spanning defence, agriculture, energy, and culture.
