Brenda Biya, daughter of President Paul Biya, has urged Cameroonians not to reelect her father, openly opposing his eighth-term bid in a historic move.

Brenda Biya, daughter of Cameroon’s long-serving president Paul Biya, has publicly called on citizens not to vote for her father in the October 2025 election.

In a TikTok Live session, Brenda, popularly known as “King Nasty,” accused the 92-year-old leader of dragging Cameroon into “poverty, unemployment, and decades of stagnation.” Her statement marks the first time in African political history that the child of a sitting president has openly opposed their parent’s rule.

Paul Biya, who has governed since 1982, is one of the world’s longest-serving leaders. His administration has long faced allegations of corruption, authoritarianism, human rights abuses, and disputed elections.

In July, Biya announced his candidacy for an eighth term, declaring on X: “I am a candidate for the 12 October 2025 presidential election. The best is still to come.”

He pledged to continue ensuring the “security and well-being” of Cameroonians, despite mounting criticism of his decades-long rule.
