“The last time a president visited for a commissioning was in 2012 for a brewery, but today, the president is here to commission roads etc”…Obi was governor in 2012.
ANAMBRA – A political clash has erupted between Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State and his predecessor, Peter Obi, as President Bola Tinubu visited the state for a major commissioning event.
Obi, in a post on X, appeared to criticize governors for prioritising government lodges over critical needs. “Rather than investing in critical sectors, we have continued to prioritise wasteful spending on non-developmental projects… instead of investing in human capital, education, and healthcare,” he said.
Days later, Tinubu visited Anambra to commission roads, flyovers, and the state’s first government house—projects initiated by Soludo.
Seizing the moment, Soludo said, “The last time a president visited for a commissioning was in 2012 for a brewery, but today, the president is here to commission roads… and more.”
Obi was governor in 2012, and Soludo has previously dismissed that brewery investment as “worth next to nothing,” marking a sharp contrast in their visions for state development.
