Brigitte Macron plans to present court evidence to refute Candace Owens’ claim she was born male.

French first lady Brigitte Macron will present “photographic and scientific evidence” in court to prove she is a woman, her lawyer confirmed. Brigitte and her husband, French President Emmanuel Macron, are suing right-wing podcaster Candace Owens, accusing her of spreading a “campaign of global humiliation” with false claims that the first lady was born male.

Owens has repeatedly pushed the theory that Brigitte was born as Jean-Michel Trogneux, allegedly her brother, and once declared she would “stake [her] entire professional reputation” on it.

Attorney Tom Clare told the BBC that expert testimony and photographs of Brigitte pregnant and raising children will be presented in court. “It is incredibly upsetting to think that you have to go and subject yourself, to put this type of proof forward,” Clare said. “But she’s willing to do it. She is firmly resolved to do what it takes to set the record straight.” Owens has filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit.
