Senator Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, has demanded the cancellation of the ongoing local government elections in Lagos, citing widespread irregularities. Speaking at polling unit PU 19 in the Iru-Victoria Island LCDA on Saturday, she claimed the electoral process was compromised.

“The observation is that obviously, they have planned to rig this election because people have not been able to vote in their units,” Bucknor-Akerele said. “When you get to your unit, they said they have given them a list of names. I have been to my own unit. My name is not there.”

She also accused the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) of disrupting the process by relocating polling units without notice. One such unit, originally at Eko Hotels, was moved to Ajose Adeogun Street.

“Many people are not able to vote because they have completely disrupted all the polling units,” she said. “I am calling for the cancellation of this election.”
