BudgIT reports states’ fiscal surplus rose from N2.8trn in 2023 to N7.1trn in 2024.
BudgIT, a civic-tech organisation promoting budget transparency, has revealed that states’ fiscal surplus jumped from N2.8 trillion in 2023 to N7.1 trillion in 2024.
The rise, the group said in a post on X, was driven partly by the Federal Government’s settlement of N2 trillion in capital budget arrears.
BudgIT stressed that the additional fiscal space should be channelled into infrastructure, education, and healthcare, urging citizens to monitor spending through yourtracka.org and govspend.ng.
