Pastor Tunde Bakare has disclosed that former President Muhammadu Buhari denied knowledge of the 2021 raid on Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Igboho’s residence. Speaking on TVC’s Beyond The Headlines, Bakare said, “You will never see me again while ministering,” expressing outrage over the incident. He recounted Buhari’s response: “Do you know I knew nothing about it?” Bakare replied, “I wouldn’t know. It’s under your watch.”
He explained that Buhari claimed security agencies often acted independently. “There are so many things that security people would do… that they would now say they were acting on instruction,” Bakare quoted Buhari.
On economic issues, Bakare defended Buhari from sole blame, stating, “General Buhari was not an economist… it would be wrong to put everything on the head of one man.” He also criticized corruption in government agencies: “I was totally livid when I saw the Accountant-General… I thought he should be in jail.”
