“You can still proceed with your plans. Get your people who are on the ground to do it on your behalf. God bless your efforts, Sir.”: Bashir Ahmad.

Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has extended a message of goodwill to Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following the suspension of his planned visit to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in Benue State.

The gesture comes at a time of increased scrutiny on Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly as tensions simmer over Obi’s aborted trip to the Middle Belt state.

Obi had recently voiced concerns about his inability to reach Governor Hyacinth Alia prior to the intended visit. He noted that efforts to engage the state leadership were unsuccessful, a development which the governor’s aide criticized as “bad charity etiquette.” The aide accused Obi of attempting to impose his visit without due consultation.

In response to Obi’s public statement, Bashir Ahmad took to social media to encourage him to pursue his humanitarian mission through alternate means.

“You can still proceed with your plans. Get your people who are on the ground to do it on your behalf. God bless your efforts, Sir,” Ahmad wrote.
