Felix Agu says playing for Nigeria is the “biggest honour” of his career and is now focused on helping the Super Eagles win AFCON and reach the 2026 World Cup.

Felix Agu has declared his ambition to win the Africa Cup of Nations and help Nigeria qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after switching allegiance from Germany.

The Werder Bremen full-back, 25, made his Super Eagles debut during the Unity Cup in London, featuring in the final against Jamaica as Nigeria triumphed on penalties.

“Now I feel ready, and to play for the national team is the biggest honour you can have,” Agu told Nigerian journalist Ayodele Olu Ibidapo.

The former German U21 star said joining Nigeria was a long-considered decision and believes achieving international success would mean more than anything at club level.

“The goal is to win AFCON — not just make the final, but win it,” he added.

He also praised the team’s quality and camaraderie: “Everyone welcomed me with open arms.”

Agu, who made his second appearance in a 1-1 friendly against Russia, is expected to be key in Nigeria’s AFCON and World Cup campaigns.
