Singer tells couple, “I’m not performing another song till you go home.”
DENVER — Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, stirred controversy Wednesday night after ordering a couple out of his Denver concert for allegedly sleeping during his performance. Midway through his set, Burna Boy paused and called out a male attendee whose girlfriend appeared to be dozing off.
“When I stand up here (on the stage) and see you over there with your girl sleeping in the front of me, it pisses me fk up. So, please, take her the fk home… Walahi, I’m not performing another song till you go home,” he said.
The couple eventually left after the crowd urged them to go. Burna Boy resumed performing to cheers. Fans online offered mixed reactions, with some condemning the singer’s action. This follows prior incidents where he ejected fans for running on stage or not dancing, reinforcing his reputation for controversial onstage outbursts.
