A car rammed into a crowd celebrating Liverpool’s Premier League victory on Water Street, injuring several pedestrians and prompting a major emergency response.
A car has ploughed into a crowd during Liverpool’s Premier League trophy parade, injuring multiple people and triggering a swift response from emergency services. Merseyside Police confirmed the collision occurred just after 6pm on Water Street in Liverpool city centre.
“We were contacted at just after 6pm… following reports a car had been in collision with a number of pedestrians,” a police spokesman said. “The car stopped at the scene and a male has been detained.”
Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes, with ambulances rushing in and Liverpool Lime Street station reportedly shut. One witness told GB News: “I saw a car ram through people… the driver reversed and sped up forward and mowed down more people… terrifying.”
North West Ambulance Service said it was “assessing the situation” and prioritising medical care. Liverpool City Council said it is working closely with police.
GB News reports the Prime Minister is being kept updated. Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the incident.
