Charly Boy reacts with indifference as Lagos renames iconic Bariga bus stop after rapper Olamide as part of a broader honour roll for Nigerian entertainers.

Veteran entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has reacted to the Lagos State Government’s decision to rename the Charly Boy Bus Stop in Bariga to Olamide Baddo Bus Stop in honour of rapper Olamide Adedeji, a Bariga native.

In a brief response to Daily Post on Saturday, Charly Boy dismissed the change with a casual, “Na dem sabi.”

The renaming is part of Lagos’s broader initiative to honour prominent Nigerians in entertainment and sports by changing the names of roads and landmarks.

Other renamed locations in Bariga include Ilaje Road (now King Sunny Ade Road), Bariga Road (now Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way), and Community Road, Akoka (now Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Road).

Also renamed are Ajidagan Street (Olamide Adedeji Street), Ifeanyi Street (Abolore Akande Street), Ayodele Street (Tony Tetuila Street), and Ilojo Crescent (Bukayo Saka Street).

The move has sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians questioning the motivations and historical basis behind the renaming decisions.
