Chelsea starlet Estevão Willian may miss Brazil’s clash with Japan and faces a race to be fit for the Premier League meeting with Nottingham Forest after coming down with the flu.

Chelsea could be without Estevão Willian for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Nottingham Forest as the Brazilian winger battles a flu illness.

According to Globo, the 18-year-old is unlikely to feature in Brazil’s upcoming friendly against Japan after falling sick during the international break. He will be monitored over the next 48 hours before a final decision is made.

Estevão has enjoyed a strong start to life at Chelsea, scoring the winner against Liverpool before netting twice in Brazil’s 5-0 rout of South Korea. His absence would be a setback for both club and country.

Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti may call on Lucas Paquetá to replace the teenager, while Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca must also weigh his options with a congested fixture list looming.

The winger’s recovery could also be hampered by the long-haul flight from Japan to London, raising further doubts about his availability this weekend.
