Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede urges soldiers to “spare no quarter in running these terrorists and criminals to the ground,” stressing the importance of willpower over weaponry.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has ordered Nigerian soldiers to crush and clear terrorists from the country without showing any mercy. The directive was given at the closing of the COAS biannual conference held in Maiduguri, where top army generals met for three days to strategize on national peace and security.
“Ladies and gentlemen, there is no contesting our decision to completely neutralise these detractors to peace,” Oluyede declared. He charged every officer and soldier to “spare no quarter in running these terrorists and criminals to the ground.” The COAS emphasised the importance of leadership, stating, “the strength of the Nigerian Army does not solely lie in the weapons, but more in the will of our soldiers who wield them.”
He also revealed plans to induct more combat enablers in upcoming operations. Oluyede praised the intellectual rigour shown during the conference and vowed to implement the proposed measures to safeguard the nation.
