Pouring oil will only intensify and widen the conflict.
China on Tuesday accused U.S. President Donald Trump of inflaming the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel following his call for urgent evacuations from Tehran.
The crisis intensified after Israel launched surprise aerial strikes across Iran last week, aiming to curb Tehran’s alleged nuclear ambitions—claims Iran denies. In response, Trump urged residents of Tehran to evacuate immediately, posting on Truth Social: “Everyone should immediately evacuate!”
Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun condemned Trump’s remarks, stating: “Fanning the flames, pouring oil, making threats and mounting pressure will not help to promote the de-escalation of the situation, but will only intensify and widen the conflict.”
Guo called on nations with influence over Israel to intervene: “The Chinese side calls on all relevant parties… to take immediate measures to de-escalate tensions.”
China’s embassy in Israel also issued a warning: “It is recommended to depart in the direction of Jordan,” citing rising civilian casualties and infrastructure damage.
