“If there is any member of the PDP that fails or refuses to resign before parading himself as an ADC chieftain, that is forum shopping. It is an offence.” – Legal Expert
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) faces internal backlash after coalition members last week installed new interim leaders, allegedly breaching the party’s constitution.
Ralph Nwosu resigned as National Chairman to make way for ex-Senate President David Mark, while Rauf Aregbesola and Bolaji Abdullahi became National Secretary and Publicity Secretary.
Critics, however, say the move ignored Article 23, Clause 4 of the ADC Constitution, which mandates executive committee approval and zoning rules.
Musa Matara, displaced publicity secretary, argued: “The amendment of a constitution is not something a small group of people can just do to suit their interests.”
INEC was reportedly not informed of any valid leadership change. Legal expert Dr Wahab Shittu warned: “If there is any member of the PDP that fails or refuses to resign before parading himself as an ADC chieftain, that is forum shopping. It is an offence.”
Nwosu defended the move as “maturity” and welcomed new coalition members despite the controversy.
