A Deputy Superintendent of the NSCDC accidentally discharged a firearm, fatally wounding a colleague in the arm en route in Life Camp, Abuja, on September 7, and the shooter is now in custody
A Deputy Superintendent of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has tragically and accidentally shot his colleague, Deputy Superintendent of Corps (DSC) Adekunle Emmanuel, in Life Camp, Abuja.
The incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. on Sunday, September 7, as both officers were travelling from Corner View Hotel to a principal’s residence at Lias Estate. Emmanuel was struck by a bullet in the upper left arm, just above the bicep.
He was urgently transported to Maitama General Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead. The body has since been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The officer who fired the weapon is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation, according to security expert Zagazola Makama, who first disclosed the incident on his X account. Efforts by Sahara Reporters to obtain comment from NSCDC authorities were unsuccessful.
