“He always tells them he loves them and will marry them”—Commissioner Obinabo
Anambra State Commissioner for Women’s Affairs, Ify Obinabo, has raised alarm after an 18-year-old boy impregnated 10 girls, including his master’s daughter and a salesgirl. In a viral social media video, Obinabo disclosed that the teen, sent away from his apprenticeship for impregnating two girls, went on to impregnate eight more within two months of returning to his village. “This matter is beyond me; that’s why I want the public’s help,” the commissioner said, questioning if the situation was “spiritual.”
The boy claimed his “magic” was simply telling the girls he loved them and planned to marry them once wealthy. His mother reportedly fears encountering more pregnant girls and has sought intervention. Obinabo did not reveal the boy’s identity or community but described the case as unprecedented due to his age and the number of pregnancies.
The commissioner has appealed for solutions, sparking debates online about parental guidance, youth accountability, and potential legal action. Authorities are yet to announce further steps.
