The Kogi government has denied reports that Governor Ododo was turned away from the Senate during the confirmation of the new Chief of Army Staff.
Confusion has trailed reports that Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, was denied entry into the Senate chamber during the confirmation of the new Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Waheedi Shaibu, on Wednesday.
Sources claimed the governor, who had gone to show solidarity with the Army Chief from his state, was prevented from entering the chamber marking the second time he would allegedly be turned away. Officials reportedly cited that no other governor attended in support of nominees from their states.
However, Kogi’s Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, dismissed the report as “baseless lies.”
“No one walked him out of the National Assembly,” Fanwo said, insisting Ododo only left after meeting senators and stakeholders.
