A Federal High Court in Warri has restrained the police from enforcing the tinted glass regulation, directing them to maintain the status quo pending further proceedings.
The Federal High Court sitting in Warri has restrained the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector-General of Police from enforcing the controversial tinted glass regulation pending further hearing. The interim order was issued in Suit No. FHC/WR/CS/103/2025: John Aikpokpo-Martins v. Inspector-General of Police & Nigeria Police Force, which came up on Friday.
The Court directed the police authorities to maintain the status quo and respect judicial processes until the substantive matter is determined.
Speaking after the ruling, Kunle Edun, SAN, who led the applicant’s legal team, described the development as a crucial step in upholding the rule of law. “This directive is a major step in ensuring that the rule of law is upheld while the substantive issues in the case are being determined,” he said.
Details of the judgment and the next adjourned date are expected to be announced in due course.
