The Jerusalem District Court has cancelled this week’s hearings in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ongoing corruption trial, citing classified diplomatic and security considerations.
The decision follows a request by Netanyahu and top Israeli intelligence officials, including Mossad and military intelligence heads, who provided new classified justifications.
While the court didn’t reference external influence, the cancellation came shortly after former U.S. President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, calling the prosecution “INSANITY” and warning it could undermine Netanyahu’s diplomatic efforts.
Netanyahu, indicted in 2019 for bribery, fraud, and breach of trust—charges he denies—was due to be cross-examined on Monday. He argues the case is a politically motivated attack by the left.
On Friday, the court also denied his bid to delay testimony by two weeks, despite ongoing diplomatic fallout from Israel’s recent 12-day conflict with Iran.
Netanyahu reposted Trump’s comments on X, adding, “Together, we will make the Middle East Great Again!” A prosecution spokesperson declined to comment.
