Matheus Cunha has joined Manchester United with a clear ambition: to fight for titles.
Brazilian forward Cunha says he’s ready for “big things” after joining Man United on a five-year deal.
Matheus Cunha says he is ready to “fight for titles” after completing a move to Manchester United from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Brazilian forward, 26, signed a five-year deal with an option for a further year, United confirmed on Sunday. The transfer, subject to visa and registration, brings to Old Trafford a player who scored 33 goals in 92 appearances for Wolves.
“Manchester United has reached agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the signing of Matheus Cunha,” the club stated. “Everyone at Manchester United looks forward to welcoming Matheus to Old Trafford.”
Cunha had previously revealed his desire to compete at the highest level, telling The Guardian: “I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential.”
Despite receiving multiple offers, Cunha said he stayed at Wolves to help the team avoid relegation: “I couldn’t leave the club in the middle of the season.”
He will join the Brazil squad for World Cup qualifiers before returning to begin life under new manager Ruben Amorim.
