Czech President Petr Pavel commenced a landmark visit to Ghana today, marking a significant step in the 66-year diplomatic relationship between the two nations. This visit underscores the Czech Republic’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Ghana, particularly in sectors such as healthcare, security, and infrastructure.

In recent years, the Czech Republic has actively contributed to Ghana’s development. Notably, the Czech government provided €79 million for the construction of 12 polyclinics across five regions, significantly improving healthcare accessibility. Additionally, Czech medical teams have been visiting Ghana annually since 2019 to perform surgeries and share expertise with local counterparts.

Security collaboration has also been a focal point, with Czech support facilitating the training of Ghanaian Air Force and Police Service personnel in cybersecurity and other disciplines.

President Pavel’s visit is expected to further discussions on joint ventures in energy, water purification, and infrastructure development, deepening the partnership between Ghana and the Czech Republic.
