Veteran Nigerian musician, Innocent Onyebuchi, popularly known as Daddy Fresh, has appealed for help after being bedridden for over two years. His plight came to light after Nollywood actor Kunle Afod visited him in hospital and shared an emotional video on Facebook.
Afod wrote, “Daddy Fresh must not die – one of Nigeria’s finest artists is in a terrible condition.”
Appearing frail, Daddy Fresh said, “I’ve been bedridden for over two years… my kidney, my liver, neuropathy, eyes—two of them get issues. I no dey see you.” He revealed that he needs immediate blood transfusions and faces eviction due to unpaid rent.
He lamented abandonment and suggested spiritual causes for his suffering but expressed hope after Afod’s visit, calling it divine. Afod urged the entertainment community to intervene, saying, “We need your support. Let’s keep him alive.”
Daddy Fresh once dominated Nigeria’s reggae and hip-hop scene in the 1990s.
