Police in Abuja have arrested a pastor and two accomplices for allegedly trafficking children, including a boy they attempted to sell for ₦1.2m.

Police in Abuja have arrested Rev. Pastor Prince Bassey Ajah, General Overseer of “Wells of Salvation” Church, for alleged child trafficking. FCT Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh disclosed on Saturday that Ajah was arrested alongside two accomplices, Nancy Atoo and Deaconess Vera Duru.

The arrest followed a distress call from Wazobia Motor Park, Gwagwalada, on May 24, 2025, after a man attempted to travel to Owerri with a suspiciously unaccompanied 7-year-old boy. The man, Isreal Ajah, was apprehended and later linked to Pastor Ajah.

“Preliminary investigations revealed the child was handed over by Rev. Pastor Prince Bassey Ajah,” Adeh said. A search at Nancy Atoo’s residence also uncovered a 4-year-old girl named “Mercy,” with no documents or known relatives.

According to police, both children were being trafficked for sale, with the boy priced at ₦1.2 million through arrangements by Deaconess Vera Duru. The boy has been reunited with his family. Investigations are ongoing.
