Dangote Industries denied ownership of the truck in a fatal Enugu crash, saying it was operated by a third party misusing its logo.

Dangote Industries Limited has denied ownership of the truck involved in a fatal crash in Enugu on Wednesday, clarifying that the vehicle was operated by a third party.

The accident, which occurred around 9 a.m., involved a Howo truck loaded with cement and a Toyota Corolla. Although the truck bore markings resembling Dangote’s brand, the inscription indicated it belonged to Visco Investment Global Limited and was travelling from Aba to Abuja.

In a statement issued by its management, the Dangote Group said it was investigating why its logo appeared on a vehicle outside its fleet. “We will apply more scrutiny to the unauthorised use of our brand identity, especially the misuse of our logo on vehicles not linked to the Group,” the company said.

Dangote insisted the clarification was necessary to counter misinformation. “Ordinarily, it is our policy not to comment on individual cases, but the spread of misinformation linking these incidents to the Dangote Group without evidence has compelled us to respond.”

The company pledged to cooperate with authorities while warning against exploiting tragedies for “malicious or financial gain.” It reaffirmed its commitment to safety and corporate responsibility.
