Sanusi Dantata announced the arrival of his father’s body in Madinah on Tuesday morning.
Aminu Dantata’s body arrived in Madinah on Tuesday morning, allowing plans for his burial to proceed after earlier delays caused by documentation issues. The 94-year-old businessman and philanthropist died in Abu Dhabi on Saturday and had expressed a lifelong wish to be buried in the holy city.
The repatriation process was delayed due to paperwork complications involving both the Nigerian embassy and Dantata’s family. However, Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, confirmed that all documentation was completed and that the funeral would take place on Tuesday.
Dantata’s son, Sanusi, announced on social media that “his father’s body arrived in Madinah this morning.” He added that Aliko Dangote, the late businessman’s great-nephew, accompanied the remains from Abu Dhabi.
The funeral prayer was scheduled for after the Asr prayer at the Holy Prophet’s Mosque around 1:30 pm Nigerian time, with burial planned at the Baqiyya cemetery.
