According to BUSINESS INSIDER report – Artificial intelligence could eliminate most jobs within the next 10 to 20 years, according to a report from Business Insider citing comments by Chen Deli, a researcher at DeepSeek. Speaking during a panel discussion at the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, Chen said, “During this period, societal structures will also be greatly challenged.”
“Tech companies should play the role of guardians of humanity, at the very least, protecting human safety, then helping to reshape societal order,” he added.
Chen described the current stage as a “honeymoon phase,” where AI boosts productivity but lacks full autonomy. However, he warned that within five to ten years, AI systems could become more capable, potentially triggering widespread job losses. “During this period, tech companies should serve as whistleblowers, warning society of potential risks,” he said.
DeepSeek, founded in 2023, gained prominence with its low-cost reasoning model R1, which rivals OpenAI’s ChatGPT o1. The company’s rise has fueled China’s AI ambitions amid the intensifying US-China technology race. Analysts told Business Insider that the growing influence of Chinese AI models, including DeepSeek’s, has pressured U.S. firms like OpenAI to accelerate innovation and open-source development.
