“She has been a brilliant, top-performing student from the very beginning,” a source said.

Osato Edobor, a nursing student who went viral for participating in a chant mocking Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reportedly failed her final examination at the Delta State School of Nursing, raising concerns of political victimisation.

In March, Edobor was seen in a video with fellow students chanting “Na your mama be this” in response to the First Lady being hailed as “our mother” during a visit.

The video, which sparked widespread online discussion, led the school to issue a disciplinary query accusing her of misconduct.

“She has been a brilliant, top-performing student from the very beginning,” a source said. “Her recent failure seems suspicious and politically motivated.”

The provost, Mrs. Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne, claimed Edobor’s actions in uniform violated nursing ethics and brought disrepute to the institution. “Nursing is a serious profession with strict codes of conduct. She disgraced the school,” she said.

However, the Delta State government later ordered the withdrawal of the query. Health Commissioner Dr. Joseph Onojaeme stated, “We do not intend to victimise any student.”

Despite this, Edobor’s exam failure has reignited concerns about institutional retaliation. Repeated attempts to reach the provost for clarification were unsuccessful as of press time.
