Delta State police arrested three suspected kidnappers who shot a victim in the leg after collecting ₦2 million ransom and finding little money in his bank account.
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested three suspected kidnappers who allegedly shot their victim despite collecting a ₦2 million ransom. Command spokesperson Bright Edafe said the suspects—identified as Chukwuebuka Nka, 25, Uche Okechukwu, and Somto Chukwuma—abducted a young man from his residence in Ogwashi-Uku and demanded payment for his release.
According to Edafe, the victim was shot in the leg after the suspects discovered his bank account had insufficient funds. A distress call enabled police to trace the gang to a bush in Ogwashi-Uku, where the injured victim was rescued.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Nka and Okechukwu in Anambra State, where officers recovered the victim’s white Toyota Venza. Based on their confessions, police raided a hideout in Agidiase village and apprehended Chukwuma.
Edafe added that the suspects took police to another hideout where their operational vehicle and a network jammer circuit device were seized. The victim is receiving medical treatment while the suspects remain in custody.
