No formal explanation has been given for the prolonged detention.
The factional president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Atiku Abubakar Isah, may spend the upcoming Eid al-Adha in custody, as the Department of State Services (DSS) continues to detain him without formal charges.
A family member told SaharaReporters on Thursday, “We haven’t heard anything from the agency. They are still holding him… Only Isah’s wife was granted access.”
Despite assurances during a recent visit to DSS headquarters in Abuja that he would soon be released, Isah remains in detention.
His wife, accompanied by family members, was allowed to visit him on Tuesday after intervention by human rights lawyer Barrister Deji Adeyanju.
Isah’s arrest follows explosive allegations that he was offered ₦100 million by Seyi Tinubu to vacate his NANS position, which he refused. He claims he was later abducted, stripped, and beaten.
The family is appealing for his immediate release, citing emotional and psychological distress.
