Dismissed Catholic nun Rev. Sr. Anastasia Kinse has accused priests of sexual harassment and claimed she was expelled after reporting the misconduct to Church authorities.
A dismissed Catholic nun, Rev. Sr. Anastasia Kinse, has alleged that she was sexually harassed by a priest but said she could not publicly release the evidence she possesses.
Speaking on Monday during an interview on Prime Time, an Arise Television programme, Kinse, who once served under the Auchi Catholic Diocese in Edo State, claimed she lost her job at Veritas University, Abuja, after exposing alleged sexual misconduct by priests.
“I find it very funny when I was asked for evidence, but in our world today, imagine me coming out, calling names and talking doesn’t make any sense,” she said. “It’s not as if the evidences that I was sexually harassed by a priest do not exist, they do, but I cannot put them out there.”
Kinse alleged that one priest invited her to stay a week at his parish, while another “put his belt on my waist” under the pretext of taking her measurements. She said Church authorities dismissed her experiences as “madness,” leading to her removal from both her congregation and her teaching position.
