DOGE uses AI to target thousands of federal regulations for elimination

The U.S. DOGE Service, launched by Elon Musk and backed by the Trump administration, is deploying an artificial intelligence tool to identify 50% of approximately 200,000 federal regulations for potential elimination.

The “DOGE AI Deregulation Tool” is already being used at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, according to The Washington Post. A presentation obtained by the outlet revealed the tool aims to find regulations deemed “neither necessary nor legally required,” with a goal of slashing half by January 2026.

An administration spokesperson said, “The DOGE experts creating these plans are the best and brightest in the business.”

Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, a key figure in the DOGE initiative, previously suggested extreme workforce cuts based on Social Security numbers, saying, “Boom. That’s a 75 percent reduction done.”

Though Elon Musk has since left the administration, the DOGE program continues, despite mounting lawsuits and criticism over transparency and legality from Democratic lawmakers and advocacy groups.
