A devastating roof collapse at the famed Jet Set club in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, claimed the lives of at least 113 people.

A tragic roof collapse at the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, has left at least 113 people dead and more than 255 injured during a merengue concert early Tuesday. Among the victims were notable figures, including merengue singer Rubby Pérez, former Major League Baseball pitcher Octavio Dotel, and Monte Cristi province governor Nelsy Cruz.

Rescue efforts remain ongoing as emergency teams search for survivors. Many victims have yet to be identified, with officialsleporting a shortage of body bags and stretchers. “We heard a loud crack, and then the roof just fell. People were screaming, trying to escape,” said one survivor.

The cause of the collapse is still under investigation. Authorities have not disclosed when the venue was last inspected. President Luis Abinader has declared three days of national mourning, urging calm and pledging full accountability.
