“Just as the UK opened its doors to those fleeing persecution in Ukraine and Hong Kong, we believe that the same generosity should be extended to Palestinian families,” the letter says.

Dozens of MPs and peers have called on Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to urgently create a Ukraine-style visa scheme to help Palestinians in Gaza reunite with family in the UK.

In a letter seen by Sky News, 67 MPs and Lords across parties urged Starmer and Home Secretary Yvette Cooper to establish a “Gaza Family Scheme” to allow safe entry “until it is safe to return”.

“Just as the UK opened its doors to those fleeing persecution in Ukraine and Hong Kong, we believe that the same generosity should be extended to Palestinian families,” the letter says.

The appeal was organised by Labour MP Marsha de Cordova with Gaza Families Reunited. She said: “It is time for the government to act now to help British Palestinians get their loved ones to safety.”

Signatories include Labour MPs, Greens, Lib Dems, SNP, and independents such as Jeremy Corbyn.

The letter accuses Israel of “weaponising starvation” and intensifying bombardments.

A government spokesperson said: “The death and destruction in Gaza is intolerable… There are a range of routes available for Palestinians who wish to join family members in the UK.”
