“This is the biggest drone attack since the start of the full-scale invasion,” said Yuriy Ihnat, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Air Force.
KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russia launched its largest drone assault on Ukraine overnight since the 2022 invasion, firing 273 exploding drones and decoys, Ukraine’s air force reported Sunday.
Of those, 88 were intercepted and 128 were likely electronically jammed. Strikes targeted Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Donetsk regions.
“This is the biggest drone attack since the start of the full-scale invasion,” said Yuriy Ihnat, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Air Force.
A 28-year-old woman was killed in Kyiv region, and three others, including a 4-year-old child, were injured, according to Kyiv Gov. Mykola Kalashnyk.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said its own air defenses downed 25 Ukrainian drones during the same period.
The massive attack followed failed peace talks on Friday. President Vladimir Putin rejected President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s offer of direct talks in Turkey.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to speak Monday with Putin, followed by calls to Zelenskyy and NATO leaders, in a renewed push for peace.
