The DSS has arraigned Abdulazeez “Bomboy” Obadaki, alleged mastermind of the Kuje jailbreak and the 2012 Kogi church massacre, on terrorism-related charges, while also charging another suspect for advocating a coup on social media.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned Abdulazeez Obadaki, also known as Bomboy, alleged mastermind of the 2022 Kuje correctional centre jailbreak and the 2012 Deeper Life Bible Church attack in Kogi State that killed at least 19 worshippers.

Brought before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Abuja federal high court, Obadaki faces a six-count charge involving terrorism, conspiracy, aiding attacks, and escape from lawful custody, with prosecutors alleging he is a member of the Ansaru terrorist group involved in violent bank raids and coordinated assaults across states.

He pleaded guilty only to escaping from custody, and the case was adjourned to January 26, 2026, with the judge ordering his remand in DSS custody.

In a separate case, the DSS also arraigned Innocent Chukwuemeka for allegedly using his social media account to advocate for a coup, charging him with cyberstalking and making false statements; he pleaded not guilty and was similarly remanded with hearing set for the same date.
