The DSS has charged 27-year-old Innocent Onukwume with calling for a military coup against President Tinubu. Using his X account, he allegedly urged the military to overthrow the government. Onukwume is in custody, and court proceedings are set to begin later this week.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has filed a six-count charge against 27-year-old Innocent Onukwume for allegedly calling for the overthrow of President Bola Tinubu through a military coup. Onukwume, a resident of Umusayo Layout in Oyigbo, Rivers State, reportedly used his X (formerly Twitter) account, @theagroman, to incite the military in October 2025.

Court documents filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja under case number FHC/ABJ/CR/610/2025 allege that Onukwume posted, “A coup in Nigeria is needed. Dispose of APC, suspend the Nigeria government and join the AES. That is all we need now,” and, “Tinubu has to go and APC has to die for Nigeria to have any semblance of normal life. And if you think your stupid votes can remove Tinubu, I’m here to tell you that you’re a fool.”

The DSS said his actions violated sections of the Criminal Code Act and the Cybercrimes Act. Onukwume was arrested in Port Harcourt last month and remains in custody pending court proceedings later this week.
