Edo Government shuts buildings linked to rituals, violence

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has sealed several buildings linked to suspected cult leaders as part of a security operation to dismantle cult networks and criminal activities.

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has intensified the fight against cultism by sealing more properties belonging to suspected cult leaders in the state. The action followed a joint operation codenamed “Operation Flush Out Cultists and Kidnappers” coordinated by Idemudia Noah in collaboration with security agencies.

During the raid at Egbaen community in Egor Local Government Area, security operatives uncovered a white casket and fetish items believed to have been used for initiation rituals. The building was immediately sealed. At Evboyare community in Uhunmwode Local Government, where a recent clash claimed the life of one Festus, the residence of an alleged Maphite leader, Felix Aigbedion, was also sealed.

Noah confirmed that two locally made firearms were recovered from a poultry house in the area. He said, “The administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo is unwavering in its determination to purge Edo State of cult-related violence and criminal syndicates.”
