Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has denied reports claiming he forced NNPC CEO Bayo Ojulari to resign.
The allegation, published online on August 2, alleged that Olukoyede and DSS boss Adeola Ajayi coerced Ojulari into signing a resignation letter during a meeting in Abuja. The report also linked Ojulari to British-Nigerian oil mogul Olatimbo Ayinde, said to have close ties to key government figures.
EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale, in a statement on Wednesday, said Olukoyede, through his lawyer Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika (SAN), described the claims as “defamatory” and “injurious to his integrity.”
“The publications and the imputations conveyed by them are so damning and cannot be ignored or treated with levity,” the statement read.
Olukoyede denied acting under external influence and demanded a public apology and full retraction within 48 hours. His legal team warned that failure to comply would result in legal action.
