The EFCC has dismissed claims that declaring Atiku Abubakar’s son-in-law, Abdullahi Bashir Haske, wanted was politically motivated, insisting he is being pursued for evading a longstanding fraud investigation.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed suggestions that declaring Abdullahi Bashir Haske, a businessman and son-in-law of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, wanted was politically motivated or linked to Atiku’s 2027 presidential ambition.

EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, described the insinuations as “rubbish,” stressing that Haske has been under probe for years.

“Haske is someone we have been investigating for so many years. He is on administrative bail but he jumped the process and we declared him wanted. How can anybody be insinuating that?” Oyewale told Daily Trust.

The commission said Haske, 38, is wanted over alleged conspiracy and money laundering after fleeing with another passport despite earlier detention.

Nigerians with useful information were urged to contact EFCC offices nationwide or the nearest police station.
